Thirsty States Take Water Battle To Supreme Court

On Tuesday, Oklahoma and Texas will face off in the U.S. Supreme Court. The winner gets water. And this is not a game.

The court will hear oral arguments in the case of Tarrant Regional Water District v. Herrmann, et al. The case pits Oklahoma against Texas over rights to water from the river that forms part of the border between them. Depending on how the court decides, it could impact interstate water-sharing agreements across the country.

Minor Quakes Shake Oklahoma Overnight

Five earthquakes rocked central Oklahoma early today, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The most powerful tremor struck at about 2:00, central time this morning, northeast of Luther. That's a little less than 30 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. The quake's magnitude was 4.2. Other tremors had magnitudes between 2.8 and 4.2.
Geophysicist Austin Holland told reporter Michael Cross of member station K-O-S-U that scientists will investigate what's behind the tremors.

Oklahoma City Marathon Will Proceed, Organizers Say After Boston Attack

News of the deadly bombing attack on the Boston Marathon is echoing in Oklahoma City, where residents will observe the 18th anniversary Friday of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which killed 168 people. The events include a marathon, which remains on the schedule, although officials say they will review their security plans.

Oklahoma Dentist May Have Exposed Thousands To Disease

Oklahoma's health department is contacting some 7,000 patients of Tulsa-area dentist Dr. W. Scott Harrington to warn them they may have been exposed to "blood-borne viruses."
Officials are urging former patients to get screened for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV after an investigation of Harrington's office found rusty instruments in use and evidence of unsanitary practices.
