Renowned cellist Bernard Greenhouse died last week at 95. Greenhouse spent almost his entire life playing and teaching the cello. He was perhaps best known as a founding member of the Beaux Arts Trio.

Two U.S. Terrorism Cases Have Ties to Pakistan

Hafiz Khan, the imam of the Miami Mosque, also known as Flagler Mosque (pictured), was arrested Saturday along with two of his sons. They, along with three others, were charged with allegedly providing money and support to the Pakistani Taliban. This case, along with another in Chicago linked to the 2008 attacks in Mumbai, India, places U.S.-Pakistani ties under intense scrutiny.

Two terrorism cases now winding their way through the federal court system have links to Pakistan: One involves a Chicago businessman who stands accused of helping plot the 2008 attacks on Mumbai, India. The other case is in Miami, where two local imams and several family members were charged with allegedly providing money and support to the Pakistani Taliban. Both cases come at a time when the U.S. relationship with Pakistan is under intense scrutiny.

IMF Chief's Arrest Renews Euro Debt Crisis Fears

IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn appeared in federal court on Monday in New York City. Greek economists say that under Strauss-Kahn's leadership, the IMF was a counterbalance to the strict austerity policies favored by northern European leaders.

The arrest of International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has sent shockwaves through Europe as it continues to deal with the euro debt crisis.

Strauss-Kahn was supposed to be in Brussels on Monday for an important meeting to discuss a possible further 60 billion euro bailout for Greece. He strongly supported policies that would help Greece avoid restructuring its massive public debt.

If E.T. Phones, Will We Hear? SETI Loses Key Funding

For more than 50 years, scientists at the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute have been listening for communications from far off planets. Now, funds are proving just as elusive as alien signals.

Jill Tarter, the director of SETI's research division in Mountain View, Calif., has spent more than 40 years looking to the stars. Tartar served as the model for Ellie Arroway, a character (played by actress Jodie Foster) in the movie Contact who picks up the unmistakable signature of extraterrestrial intelligence over her headphones.
