At the center of the probe is a booster who says he gave money and other gifts to Hurricanes players. It's one more demoralizing development for a team that's trying to rebuild but has to struggle with off-the-field controversies.
The Washington Monument is closed after engineers discovered a crack near its peak following yesterday's five-point-eight earthquake that rocked much of the East Coast. Another of Washington, D.C.'s most prominent landmarks, the National Cathedral, is also closed after it was damaged by the quake. The damage was a bit of a blow to those who came to see the cathedral.
Swiss bank UBS announced yesterday it is cutting thousands of jobs around the world, but it will keep a minimum of two-thousand employees at its U.S. headquarters in Connecticut. Craig Lemoult of member station WSHU reports that leaves 15-hundred Connecticut workers uncertain about their future with the bank.
