2012 Wildfire Relief Live Fundraiser

Broadcast media across Colorado are joining forces for a live fundraiser on Wednesday, July 11, to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief efforts in Colorado and to benefit the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation.

Colorado Public Television, Rocky Mountain PBS, Aspen Public Radio, KUVO, KUNC and KRCC will join Denver commercial television stations 9NEWS, 7NEWS, Azteca Colorado, CBS4, KDVR, KWGN and KDEN Telemundo Denver for the special broadcast.

The toll-free number to call is 877-667-6727. The line will be open on July 11 from 4-8pm.

Red Cross volunteers will be standing by to take donations over the phone, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the Colorado chapters of the American Red Cross and the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation. Callers can choose whether to give to one or both organizations.

Learn more about the relief efforts and how you can help at www.ColoradoRedCross.org. Please use the hashtag #COFireHelp to help spread the word across social media!

About the American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization - not a government agency - and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. For more information, please visit www.redcross.org or join our blog at blog.redcross.org.

About the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation:
The mission of the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation is to provide aid and support to Colorado firefighters, their families and dependents, who are victims of tragedy. The Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation was founded in January 2002 by members of the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters who recognized the tremendous void left in the lives of Colorado fire fighters when tragedy strikes. The founders realized that the men and women who sacrifice their lives, or are injured while saving others, leaves families with very real emotional and financial needs.

Many of the needs of the widows/widowers and orphans of fallen fire fighters are overlooked or not covered by the government programs available to families after a tragedy. It was from this financial void that the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation was born.

Donations go directly to the families or fire fighters who have fallen, were injured, or who have suffered tragedy.
