Al-Qaida Confirms Bin Laden's Death; Vows To Continue Attacks

The Associated Press and Reuters both just moved "alerts" to say that the al-Qaida terrorist network has "confirmed" the death of Osama bin Laden.

It reportedly did so in an Internet statement.

The AP adds that:

"Friday's statement by the terror network says bin Laden's blood 'will not be wasted' and it will continue attacking Americans and their allies."

Update at 1:57 p.m. ET. NPR's Dina Temple-Raston reports that:

"The message ... vowed to turn American happiness 'into sadness.' "

And, it "promised retaliation, saying that bin Laden's 'spilling of blood, will not go in vain.' "
