After serving the Fort Collins/Loveland airport for 9 years Allegiant Airlines will end its northern Colorado flights on Monday.
Allegiant gave little explanation for its decision to sever ties with the airport earlier this summer. But that’s not stopping the facility from looking for a new carrier.
“We’re ready to accommodate,” says Airport Director Jason Licon. “I think it would be pretty much a no-brainer for another airline to approach us that would desire to start services.”
Allegiant did cite the lack of a control tower as a factor, but Licon said that had never been an issue before. The airport recently rehabilitated their primary runway and put an extension on the main terminal because of growing passenger traffic.
Allegiant flew to Las Vegas and Phoenix.
