Barely Any Inflation In November: Consumer Prices Rose 0.1 Percent

"The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers ... increased 0.1 percent in November" from October, the Bureau of Labor Statistics just reported. And for the year ended Nov. 30, prices were up just 1.1 percent.

Bloomberg News says the November increase was "less than forecast."

Economists like to look at inflation "excluding food and energy" costs to get a feel for the underlying trend. By that measure, prices were also up just 0.1 percent last month and 0.8 percent for the year ended Nov. 30.

Planet Money figures out the economy over here.
