BBC: 4,000 Potential Hacking Victims Being Contacted By Police

This "breaking news" alert just popped up on the BBC's website:

"UK detectives investigating phone hacking allegations expect to contact nearly 4,000 potential victims, police say"

As we said earlier, the scandal in the U.K. over what an investigator hired by News of the Worldis said to have done — hacking the phones of celebrities, politicians, murder victims and family members of those injured and killed in the July 7, 2005, London bombings — just keeps getting bigger.

NPR's David Folkenflik talked with Morning Edition host Renee Montagne about the sordid story earlier.
