Beleaguered Larimer County GOP Searches for New Chairman

Gop.com

The Larimer County GOP will have a new chairman in 2012. Current head Tom Lucero announced his resignation earlier this week, citing a need to focus more time on his consulting business.

The news comes during what’s been difficult year for the party. Former Chairman Larry Carillo allegedly stole $17,000 in funds from the party during his tenure, which ended in February 2011. During that time the party also failed to file campaign finance reports.

Tom Buchanan is a tea party activist and long time member of the Republican Party. He says he plans to continue the work Lucero has done to restore faith in the party.

“Basically I plan on having a positive message,” he says. “I have a forte of rallying people and getting them to work.”

The Larimer County GOP will hold its election on January 12th.
