Bert Jansch On World Cafe

Considered one of the most prolific folk artists to date, Bert Jansch is not only an award winning multi-instrumentalist, but also an inspiration to many.

Performing throughout Europe and Morocco, the solitary Scottish songwriter was highly influenced by a range of blues, jazz and most notably folk. In 1967, he helped form the band Pentangle, which blended jazz, folk and rock in unprecedented ways. His mastery and clever disregard for conventions created a platform for many highly regarded artists such as Paul Simon, Jimmy Page and Neil Young.

His last album, Black Swan (2006), is considered one of his standout works and includes contributions from Beth Orton, Devendra Banhart, Otto Hauser, Helena Espvall and Kevin Barker. Copyright 2011 WXPN-FM. To see more, visit http://www.xpn.org/.
