Capitol Conversation: Bradford Saga Raises Questions about Legislative Immunity

Creative Commons

The drama surrounding Republican representative Laura Bradford’s suspected drunken driving incident has dominated life under the state capitol’s gold dome for about a week. Bradford is now threatening to leave the Republican Party, which would put the GOP's control of the statehouse in the balance. KUNC’s State Capitol reporter Bente Birkeland talks to fellow state house reporters about what makes this situation so unique.

Bente Birkeland has been reporting on state legislative issues for KUNC and Rocky Mountain Community Radio since 2006. Originally, from Minnesota, Bente likes to hike and ski in her spare time. She keeps track of state politics throughout the year but is especially busy during the annual legislative session from January through early May.
