Colorado Department of Transportation crews have installed precautionary signs along Highway 14 warning of flash flooding.
The move comes as afternoon rainstorms become a regular occurrence in Northern Colorado, and erosion in the High Park Burn zone is producing mudslides and flooding along the popular Poudre Canyon road.
Spokesperson Ashley Mohr says drivers need to pay close attention to weather conditions.
“Especially in this area it could be very dangerous very quick,” she says.
Mohr says COtrip.org has up-to-date road and weather condition reports.
Meantime, crews are also working to install “no parking” signs in narrows or places at risk for flash flooding between mile markers 98 and 121.
Mohr says many turnoffs along Highway 14 will also be coned off and have “no parking” signs.
