Charlie Musselwhite On World Cafe
Longtime bluesman Charlie Musselwhite plays "music from the heart." Originally from Kosciusko, Miss., Musselwhite learned of the blues following street singers on Beale Street in Memphis, Tenn. "They fascinated me as a little kid," Musselwhite says. "I was crazy about blues the first time I heard it."
Over the course of his 43 years in music, Musselwhite has released 30 albums and was introduced into the Blues Hall of Fame last year. Released last August, his album The Well draws from rockabilly, gospel, country and city blues.
Hear Musselwhite perform songs from his latest record and talk with World Cafe host David Dye about the album, getting sober and his mother's murder. Copyright 2011 WXPN-FM. To see more, visit http://www.xpn.org/.
