Colorado's Record Breaking Weather In 2012

Colorado experienced some extreme weather in 2012. Last year broke more than 114 weather records for heat, rain and snow. Â
According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, nationwide, 3,527 monthly weather records were exceeded by extreme weather events in 2012.
Colorado in 2012:
- 43 large wildfires
- 80 broken heat records in 33 counties
- 22 broken precipitation records in 15 counties
- 12 broken snow records in 8 counties
July 2012 was the hottest single month ever recorded in the lower 48 states. As a whole, 2012 was the warmest year ever recorded in the US, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s State of the Climate report.
