Court Rules Against Dillard's In Hot Dog Case

STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning, I'm Steve Inskeep with a momentous court ruling.

Nolan Koewler was fired from a store in Evansville, Indiana in July 2010. He had taken two leftover hotdogs after a company picnic. After losing his job, Mr. Koewler sued, said he didn't hear his boss's instruction to save the hot dogs.

Now Indiana's Court of Appeals has ruled in his favor, ordering the store to pay him unemployment benefits. Apparently it's not wrong to make off with leftovers.
