Crews Make Good Progress on Wildfire Near Boulder

Crews battling a roughly 400 acre wildfire in the Left Hand Canyon area north of Boulder are getting a hand from favorable weather as they try and contain the blaze today.

The so-called OHV Area Fire forced more than 200 homeowners to evacuate Friday.  Most have been allowed back in.

"We made significant progress on the fire," says Boulder County spokeswoman Barb Halpin.  "With the winds dying down and having higher humidity today, we’re seeing much more favorable conditions to continue with containment of the fire."

Halpin says the fire was 60% contained as of 10:30 AM Saturday.  About 150 firefighters are working on the blaze.  An air tanker is also expected to continue dropping fire retardant throughout the day.
