From the Desk of President Neil Best: August 2012

Dear Friends,

Part of KUNC/Community Radio for Northern Colorado’s mission is to cultivate the mind and spirit, and to strengthen community.

We’ve always believed that the arts are a critical part of the fabric of our communities. We’re blessed to live in an area with a wealth of community arts and cultural organizations that offer a broad range of events throughout the year. But with limited resources and constant competition for our attention it can be difficult for community and arts organizations to tell everyone about their activities.

At KUNC we believe it is our responsibility to be support the arts in all of our listening areas, as best we can. In just the past few weeks, KUNC has introduced our audience to Boulder’s Open Arts Festival, Greeley’s High Plains Chautauqua, Loveland’s Sculpture Invitational, and the Steamboat All Arts Festival, as well as dozens of concert events, theater, gallery walks, and more.

We invite you to sample some of Northern Colorado’s diverse cultural options, perhaps some that you haven’t tried before. And if you’re involved with a local arts group, let us know about your events, so that we may consider adding it to our list of KUNC sponsored events. Just contact Robert Leja (Robert.leja@kunc.org) or call him at 970-378-2579.

Speaking of community events I would like to personally invite you, your family, and friends to join us for the 26th annual Tuna Fish and Peanut Butter Concert Sunday afternoon, 2-4 p.m. at the Hammond Amphitheatre  in Loveland.

Big Bill Morganfield brings us a great afternoon of music. As always, the price of admission is a cash gift or a donation of non-perishable food to benefit the Food Bank for Larimer County and the Weld Food Bank. It is a great family event and most importantly a great way to help community.

Warm Regards,

President & CEO
