From the Desk of President Neil Best: June 2012
Many, if not all of you, are accustomed to my asking you for a favor.
Yes, I have been known to ask you to invest dollars in a membership to support the programming you value on KUNC.
Today, I have another request. But this time it is not for money. Rather I am asking you to consider whether you would be willing to invest time with us.
Dedicated listener members currently are volunteering their time on the KUNC Community Advisory Council and the KVNC Community Advisory Council (Vail-Minturn). These committed volunteers assist the station’s staff by providing advice and assisting us as a communication link between the station and the community.
Persons from across the entire KUNC listening area (including all translator areas, as well as those areas covered by KRNC (Steamboat Springs), KVNC (Vail-Minturn), KMPB (Breckenridge), and KENC (Estes Park) are invited to consider being part of the KUNC Community Advisory Council. At this time we have several openings on the KUNC Community Advisory Council.
Listener members in Eagle County serve on the KVNC Advisory Council, and at this time we have one opening for this group.
In addition we are in the process of creating the KENC Advisory Council in Estes Park, the KMPB Advisory Council in Summit County, and the KRNC Advisory Council in Steamboat Springs. Listener members from those geographic areas are invited to apply for these new councils.
Each council will meet three to four times a year in their respective communities to share their commitment to our mission by providing us with their diverse knowledge of their communities, attending events on behalf of KUNC, and providing valuable perspectives on the programming offered by KUNC.
Please take a moment to review a complete job description (.pdf) and operating guidelines for the advisory council. If you are ready to join us in strengthening KUNC, please fill out and send us an application (.pdf).
I would also welcome your call or email with additional questions about this opportunity to be of great service to KUNC. Please feel free to contact me at 800-443-5862 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
