In Detroit, Package Stored By Guard For Three Weeks Was A Bomb

The whole thing is "a total embarrassment," the president of the local chapter of the American Federation of Government Employees tellsThe Detroit News.

Indeed, as the Newswrites:

"A security officer at the McNamara Federal Building stored a suspicious package that turned out to contain a bomb for three weeks before alerting authorities."

It wasn't until Friday that the package was collected by the Detroit Police Department's bomb squad and detonated. The guard (employed by a private security firm that was contracted to provide security at the building) has been suspended. The FBI is investigating who sent the bomb.
