Elephant In The Room: GOP Candidate Wanders Into Democratic Convention

When Republican congressional candidate Dan Dolan got to the Monroe County (Iowa) Courthouse on Saturday for his party's local convention, an aide asked the folks there if Dolan could speak right away.

As it turns out, according toThe Quad City Times, Dolan was a couple hours early. And he ended up addressing the local Democrats by mistake.

Folks in Iowa can be very polite. "I get done, a guy raises his hand and says, 'I think you want to talk to the Republicans,' " Dolan told the newspaper.

"I'm not sure how many votes I won in the room that day," Dolan added. But, "from that point on, we checked at every place we stopped. We said, 'Is this the Republican convention?' "
