This spring storm bringing heavy snowfall to Colorado is having a big impact on the closing date for ski resorts.

Vail Mountain andBreckenridge Ski Resort announced Tuesday plans to reopen this Friday through Sunday, April 19-21. Both resorts had just celebrated the end of their ski seasons on Sunday, April 14.

Ski bums can thank the recent heavy snowfall for keeping resorts open. Vail reported 2 feet of snow since closing day and Breckenridge has recorded 16 inches.

The spring storm is also delaying the closing of many other resorts.

Aspen Highlands was scheduled to close April 21, but will reopen for an extra weekend pushing the closing date to April 28.

Loveland Ski Area plans to stay open through May 5.

Arapaho Basinwon’t close until June 2.

Winter Park Resort is still assessing whether it will remain open after its schedule closing set for this Sunday April 21.
