Larimer County officials say they have determined the cause of the Woodland Heights fire. The Estes Park Trail Gazette reports that investigators believe a power line rubbing against a tree during gusty winds caused the blaze, which is now fully contained.
According to a press release from Larimer County officials 'do not believe the fire to be criminal in nature nor the result of a criminal act.'
The fire started June 23, charring 27.3 acres and destroying 22 homes.
[UPDATED 6/27/12]: The town of Estes Park will coordinate a recovery meeting for those directly affected by the fire. The meeting will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, June 28 at Estes Park High School, 1600 Manford Ave. More information [.pdf] here.
