Anti-Government Protests Roil Egypt
Iran Hails Formation Of 'New Middle East'
By Peter Kenyon
Iran's government is crowing over the fall of Hosni Mubarak. Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says a "new Middle East" is forming, one that he says will have no room for U.S. and Israeli "interference." Ahmadinejad spoke at ceremonies marking the 32nd anniversary of Iran's Islamic Revolution. Tehran says the revolution remains on track because of its adherence to principles of "justice" and "human dignity." No mention was made of Iran's own opposition movement, which was subjected to a brutal crackdown when it protested against Iran's widely criticized 2009 elections.
