Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn is due back in court today and it's possible he could walk out a free man. Yesterday, prosecutors in New York City asked a judge to dismiss all criminal charges against him, as NPR's Joel Rose reports.
JOEL ROSE: After a brief meeting with prosecutors yesterday, Diallo's attorney, Kenneth Thompson, spoke to reporters.
KENNETH THOMPSON: The Manhattan district attorney has denied the right of a woman to get justice in a rape case.
ROSE: Black community leaders and women's groups urged the D.A. to go forward with the case, even if Diallo isn't a perfect witness. But New York defense attorney Gerald Shargel praised the way prosecutors handled the case.
GERALD SHARGEL: There were too many lies. There were too many contradictions. That's what made the case untriable from their perspective.
