The Justice Department said that two men were arrested Wednesday night after they allegedly purchased machine guns they planned on using to attack a Seattle military recruiting station.
Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif, also known as Joseph Anthony Davis, 33, of Seattle, and Walli Mujahidh, also known as Frederick Domingue, Jr., 32, of Los Angeles, are scheduled to make an initial court appearance, today. The Department of Justice said the men are charged with terrorism and firearms related charges.
The government says agents became aware of the plot through someone the men tried to recruit as a participant, monitored the plot, and that the weapons the men purchased had been rendered inoperable.
In a press release, the Justice Department said it had been monitoring the two men since early June and that they have video and audio of the men talking about the attack. The Justice Department also said the men were planning on using grenades in the attack.
