KUNC Wins Five Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

The Radio Television Digital News Association has recognized the KUNC newsroom with five regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in journalism.

Reporter Grace Hood won in the Investigative category, examining how a for-profit company was managing a taxpayer-funded online school. Hood also won in the Best Use of Sound category for a report on how one family brought back their live Christmas tree business following last summer’s High Park Fire. The KUNC newsroom was also singled out in the Continuing Coverage category for its overall reporting of the High Park Fire, and awards were given for Best Newscast and Best Website.

The RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession. Regional winners automatically become eligible for the national awards competition, which will be judged in early June.
