KUNC Wins National Edward R. Murrow Award

RTDNA

For the second year in a row, the Radio Television Digital News Association has recognized KUNC’s newsroom with a national Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in broadcast journalism.

KUNC reporter Grace Hood won in the Investigative Category after spending six months examining the way traumatic brain injuries are diagnosed at Fort Carson. The story was co-reported with freelance military reporter Michael de Yoanna. The report was automatically entered into the national contest after it won a regional Murrow award in April.

Hood was awarded a national Murrow award in the feature category in 2010.

The RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.

More information on the RTDNA award winners is available at: www.RTDNA.org

The KUNC news department has received 14 awards for work produced in 2010 including Best Newscast from the Colorado Associated Press and the Colorado Broadcasters Association.
