Lennon Scrawled 'Only Sleeping' Lyrics On Overdue Bill

(Soundbite of song, "I'm Only Sleeping)

Mr. JOHN LENNON (Singer/songwriter, The Beatles): (Singing) I'm only sleeping.

Good morning. Im Renee Montagne.

In the Beatles song "I'm Only Sleeping," John Lennon tells us how much he loves lying around in bed. Apparently he was too tired to pay some of his bills. Lennon wrote the first draft of the song on the back of a letter demanding payment for a '60s version of a car phone. That paper - lyrics and bill - is being auctioned off next month. You can also buy the coffee table those lyrics were written on.
