Live @ Swallow Hill: Carrie Rodriguez & Pieta Brown

swallowhillmusic.org

Tune in this Saturday at 7pm for the 1st of many Live @ Swallow Hill concerts on KUNC. This premiere edition will feature multi-instrumentalist Carrie Rodriguez & “one of the best modern songwriters” (Sonic Boomers) Pieta Brown.

Carrie Rodriguez' carrer was launched in 2001 after getting discovered by Chip Taylor at the South by Southwest Conference. She was invited to tour with him and they collaborated on several albums. Her solo debut came in 2006 with Seven Angels on a Bicycle, her latest release is Love and Circumstance.

Pieta Brown is the daughter of Grammy-nominated folk & blues singer/songwriter Greg Brown. She is being called “one of the best modern songwriters” (Sonic Boomers). Or, as one of Pieta’s own songwriting heroes, Iris Dement, put it, “one of the best poets I’ve heard in a long damn time.”  Pieta is currently on tour, playing shows nationwide, a few with Amos Lee.

We hope you'll join us and Swallow Hill Music on Saturday, July 17th at 7pm. A set list & recording of the show will also be made available at KUNC.org on Monday. Your comments are welcome below or on our facebook page.

I’m not a Colorado native (did you know that "I'm from Missouri" means "I'm skeptical of the matter and not easily convinced?") but I have lived here for most of my life and couldn't imagine leaving. After graduating from Colorado State University, I did what everyone wants to do; I moved to the mountains and skied, hiked, and hid from responsibility! Our listeners in the mountains may know me from my time in Steamboat Springs and Vail or as the voice of the Battle Mountain Huskies Hockey team in Vail.
