Memorial Day Weekend Will Be Snowy For Some

RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

Memorial Day weekend ahead of us is regarded as the unofficial start of summer. Tell that to people in Yellowstone, where there's still too much snow to open most of the park's campsites. Parts the Rocky Mountains got 25 feet of snow this past year.

Which means it's not too late to squeeze in some late season skiing. The U.S. Forest Service is recommending that campers consider heading to lower elevations. Think, New Mexico or Arizona.

If you've got your heart really set Yellowstone, bring your snowshoes.
