New Crowdsource Campaign Asks, What Makes Colorado Colorado?

No one knows better what it means to live, work, and play in Colorado than Coloradoans themselves. That’s why a new state-run branding campaign is turning to residents for inspiration.

Instead of hiring an individual branding agency, the state launched the Making Colorado campaign Tuesday with the objective of making “a brand for Colorado, by Colorado.”

While Colorado is many things, like craft beer, skiing, hiking, animals and the outdoors, the ideas are already starting to roll in with the hashtag #MakingColorado:

Coloradans can contribute by making submissions to the Making Colorado website or through social media including Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. The campaign hopes to hear from at least 1 million Coloradans before August.

According to makingcolorado.gov:

By engaging our unique citizens, Making Colorado will capture the spirit and energy that exist in Colorado today in order to preserve all that we love about our state while enhancing the stability, development and reputation of Colorado for generations to come.

The effort is part of the Colorado Blueprint, the state’s framework for economic development that includes a step to create and market a stronger Colorado brand.

Governor John Hickenlooper plans to reveal the results at the Colorado Innovation Network Summit in August.
