Obama's Basketball Brackets: All No. 1s In The Final Fours
We'll leave it to others to decide if this is news or not. But given the always high interest in the NCAA basketball championships and given the need for some relief from the all-too-serious news we're also covering, we thought many of you who are into March Madness might want to know that:
In the latest of what's become his annual appointment with ESPN to share his thoughts on the brackets for the men's and women's Division I tournaments, President Obama ends up with all the No. 1 seeds advancing to the championships' "final fours."
"He says Duke, Kansas, Ohio State and Pittsburgh will make the men's Final Four," ESPN says, and "predicts Baylor, UConn, Stanford and Tennessee will advance in the women's tournament."
The sports network will air its report on the president's picks — presumably including which teams he thinks will end up winning — at noon ET.
Update at 12:45 p.m. ET. And the winner will be ... according to the president:
-- Kansas on the men's side.
It appears his choice in the women's tournament won't be revealed until Friday at 9 a.m. ET. Copyright 2011 National Public Radio. To see more, visit http://www.npr.org/.
