Other News: Winter Weather 'Slams South'; Some Violence In Sudan

While we continue to monitor developments in Arizona concerning Saturday's deadly shooting at an event being held by Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, there are other headlines to note:

-- " Winter Weather Slams South With Snow, Icy Roads": "Stranded vehicles littered roadsides Monday as several inches of snow and sleet coated Atlanta and other parts of the South, freezing the morning commute in many areas and canceling thousands of flights at the world's busiest airport. Sleet, ice and several inches of snow -- as much as 9 inches in some places --  blanketed states from Louisiana to the Carolinas mostly unaccustomed to arctic weather and caused at least three deaths and left thousands without power." Update at 4 p.m. ET: The Charlotte Observer warns that "roads [in North Carolina] remain dangerous as snow falls, will turn icy tonight." New York City's Daily Newssays the "huge storm [is] expected to dump 10 inches of snow on reeling city."
