Panel To Recommend Allowing Women In Combat

A commission established by Congress plans to recommend that the military eliminate "combat exclusions" for women. Those are provisions barring women from serving in combat specialties -- the infantry or artillery, for example. In the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, distinctions between combat and non-combat roles have blurred.
