Republican President Candidate Mitt Romney's campaign visit scheduled for Pueblo this afternoon has been canceled due to a fatal small-plane crash at the Pueblo Memorial Airport.

According to The Pueblo Chieftain, this morning’s small-plane crash killed the pilot on board and the crash is currently under investigation.

Romney’s campaign spokesman Rick Gorka says the campaign did not want to interfere with the investigation or any emergency response efforts.

The event was scheduled to be held at the Wiesbrod Aircraft Museum in Pueblo this afternoon. It would have been Romney’s first visit to Colorado since accepting his party’s nomination in Tampa, Florida last month.

Romney’s campaign has not yet announced whether the event will be rescheduled.
