Tuesday is caucus night in Colorado. Hundreds of voters will gather starting at 7:00 p.m. to begin the process of choosing their political candidates for the 2014 midterm election.
"The precinct caucuses are sort of the campaign kickoff," Colorado Democratic Party executive director Jennifer Koch told Colorado Public Radio’s Anna Hanel. "[They] make Colorado a unique state and give a unique amount of influence to the political parties not only to decide the candidates but to also start the community organizing."
Turnout is typically lower in midterm election years, but Republicans are hoping for voter excitement this year, with the party fielding a large number of candidates for the state’s top two races – Governor and U.S. Senator. The Colorado Senate race recently garnered considerable attention with Cory Gardner’s announcement that he will enter the field to take on incumbent Democrat Mark Udall.
There are no contested statewide races for Democrats.

Larimer County has posted the 2014 caucus locations on their website, along with other information. In Weld County, the Weld GOP has caucus locations posted at their website.
