Charles Barsotti created more than a thousand cartoons for the New Yorker, many of which featured a series of round-snouted dogs just like this hapless pair.

Cartoonist Charles Barsotti was known for his simple, often poignant, drawings. Barsotti died Monday at the age of 80. Melissa Block talks to New Yorker cartoon editor Robert Mankoff for stories about Barsotti.
