Rep. Giffords' Condition Upgraded To 'Good'

There was good news last night from the hospital in Houston where Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) is being treated for the serious head injuries she received in the Jan. 8 shooting rampage in Tucson that left six people dead and another 13, including Giffords, with gunshot wounds.

Here's a statement from the hospital:

"Since arriving at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center on Friday, January 21, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords has made strong progress in the Neuro ICU.

"This evening, her doctors upgraded her condition from serious to good and determined that she is ready to move to TIRR Memorial Hermann. Preparations are under way for her transfer to the rehabilitation hospital sometime tomorrow morning, pending review of her medical condition early in the morning."

Also last night, Giffords' office released this photo taken in her hospital room during the president's State of the Union address. That's her husband, Mark Kelly, holding his wife's hand.
