Saudi, Bahraini Royals Announce Wedding

In a move that further symbolizes the strong allegiance between the two nations, the son of the king of Bahrain and the daughter of the king of Saudi Arabia signed a "marriage contract" on Thursday.

The AP reports:

An announcement on the official Bahrain News Agency says Bahrain's Sheik Khalid bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa signed a marriage contract Thursday with the daughter of Saudi King Abdullah. The Friday report did not give the woman's name or when the ceremony would occur.

Such strategic family alliances are common among the Gulf's Sunni leaders.

If you remember back in March, the Gulf Cooperation Council sent in troops to quell protests in the island nation. Most of those troops were from Saudi Arabia.
