Slideshow: The Scene At The Rocky Mtn. Pinball Showdown

Denver has been doing its best to keep arcade classics alive. Fans, collectors, and pinball wizards gathered at the Rocky Mtn. Pinball Showdown, all minus one thing. No quarters necessary.

In its tenth year, the Rocky Mtn. Pinball Showdown is a dream for classic game players and aficionados. The showdown not only brings together vendors and their machines, it also crowdsources many of the games from the very appreciative audience they attract.

That's why it's a reserved date on many a pinball player's calendar, and another reason Denver has its nerd cred.

I’m not a Colorado native (did you know that "I'm from Missouri" means "I'm skeptical of the matter and not easily convinced?") but I have lived here for most of my life and couldn't imagine leaving. After graduating from Colorado State University, I did what everyone wants to do; I moved to the mountains and skied, hiked, and hid from responsibility! Our listeners in the mountains may know me from my time in Steamboat Springs and Vail or as the voice of the Battle Mountain Huskies Hockey team in Vail.
