Survey: Colorado Gets B+ For Small Business Friendliness

Thumbtack.com

Colorado is ranked as the 13th friendliest state in the nation toward small businesses. That’s according to a new survey conducted by Thumbtack.com, a website that matches users’ needs with local companies.

Of the 170 employers surveyed, those located along the Front Range say they’re the most satisfied doing business in Colorado. Thumbtack Co-Founder Sander Daniels says the state ranked high among some of the issues most important to business owners such as the ease of starting up and meeting local regulations.

“One of the most interesting things we found nationwide and this certainly held true in Colorado is that small businesses told us they cared twice as much about professional licensing regulations as they did about tax rates and tax related regulations when rating the friendliness of their region.”

Colorado’s friendliness toward small business ranked higher than New Mexico and Arizona -but lower than neighboring Utah, Nebraska and Kansas. The majority of the 5,000 Colorado-based businesses listed on Thumbtack.com have five or fewer employees.
