Teddy Thompson On World Cafe

"It's very English, very sarcastic, self-deprecating," says Teddy Thompson about his latest album, Bella. The native Englishman, born in a commune in London to the famous singer songwriters Richard and Linda Thompson, has become an acclaimed singer-songwriter in his own right.

Moving to Los Angeles after graduating from school, he quickly developed a cult following by playing live solo gigs and recording demos. Surely enough, Thompson established himself as a grounded folk artists, whose sincere songwriting style landed his previous album, A Piece of What You Need, at No. 10 on the U.K. albums chart. Following an extensive tour for A Piece of What You Need, he quickly jumped into starting Bella, which Thompson called "an amazing, exhausting experience." Copyright 2011 WXPN-FM.
