After tying the all-time NCAA basketball winning streak at 88, the University of Connecticut women host Florida State tomorrow night and are heavy favorites to notch win No. 89 and pass the UCLA men's program of the early '70s in the record books.

After all, No. 1-ranked UConn thumped Ohio State ( ranked No. 10 or 11, depending on the poll) by a score of 81-50 on Sunday. Florida State is ranked No. 14 or 15.

NPR's Mike Pesca says UConn has a chance to go undefeated again this season (which would make it three straight without a loss), but he's thinking that their perfect record might get spoiled on Feb. 19. That's when the Huskies play Notre Dame. "And Notre Dame men, they were the team that beat UCLA," Mike told Weekend All Things Considered host Guy Raz. "So maybe they can do it with their women's team too."

As for Florida State, coach Sue Semrau says she's glad her team is getting the chance to be part of UConn's bid for history. "I think it’s fantastic," she says at Seminoles.com. "To be a part of this and all the attention is going to be on the game of women's basketball. Florida State gets to be a part of that. I'm excited for our kids for the amount of attention and pressure that it’s going to put on us."
