Cooler temperatures and high humidity are an aid to firefighters battling a nearly six square mile wildfire near the town of Westcliffe, about 150 miles south of Denver. But fire information officer Linda Hecker says winds are starting to pick up this afternoon and that has crews on high alert.
Colorado Representative Doug Lamborn has been fielding questions all this week after calling for a cut to funding for The National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden. But he now says he didn’t realize that provision was included in what he was supporting. The Republican says the tour of seven counties along the eastern plains is an opportunity to discuss policy – as well as this year’s crop – which Gardner says benefited from recent spring rains.
Last week on Mount McKinley, ranger Tucker Chenoweth had a day unlike any other. Over the course of one day, he helped rescue three different climbers. That is as many as he often has in one season. Melissa Block speaks with Chenoweth about those rescues.
