We'll hear some of her lo-fi music and witty lyrics in a live performance today, and Barnett will talk about the stories in her songs, which all come from true events.

Debuting in 1987, they became indie icons with albums like Surfer Rosa and Doolittle before going on a twelve-year hiatus. We'll hear some of those songs live, as well as old hits, and they discuss the recent departure of original bassist, Kim Deal.

Now, her band has released their debut Americana album, Small Town Heroes. In this episode, Hurray For The Riff Raff perform live and Segarra talks about her unconventional musical education.
