Apple To Google Maps: We Have Our Own App For That

There's been speculation for months that Apple will try to elbow Google's popular Maps app aside on the iPhone and unveil its own map app, and some of the best evidence yet comes from Tuesday's Wall Street Journal.

The paper looked into the reasons for the impending switch and the broader implications it would have for the smartphone market.

Exxon Back At No. 1 On 'Fortune 500' List; Wal-Mart Knocked To No. 2

After two years in second place, Exxon Mobil is back on top of the Fortune 500.

With 2011 revenues of $452.9 billion, the oil and energy giant edged out Wal-Mart Stores, which brought in $447 billion, Fortune magazine just reported.

Wal-Mart took the top spot from Exxon Mobil two years ago and held on to it again last year. Soaring oil prices are a major factor in Exxon's move back to No. 1.

Holder: 'More Work To Do' Before Term Is Over

Attorney General Eric Holder — the first African-American to hold the nation's top law enforcement job — is in the homestretch of his first, and probably last, full term in the post.

And after more than three years on the job, Holder is in an unusually reflective mood. He's thinking about the country's ongoing struggle over civil rights and what he wants to accomplish in his last months of government service.
