Android Tablets Gain On Apple's iPad

Tablet computer shipments more than doubled in the fourth quarter. But while holiday sales were strong for the product, the news wasn't quite so jolly for Apple. According to researcher Strategy Analytics, Apple's iPad went from 96 percent of market share to 75 percent. Tablets based on Google's Android operating system gained ground.

President Obama will be in upstate New York today touring a General Electric factory and showcasing that company's successes. Mr. Obama just named GE's chief executive the head of a new panel on jobs and competitiveness. GE boss Jeff Immelt has been speaking about the need to focus on manufacturing and increase the country's exports.

Boeing To Cut 900 Jobs In Long Beach, Calif.

Boeing sites declining orders as a reason it is cutting 900 jobs from an aircraft factory in Southern California, according to the Los Angeles Times. Those jobs are about a quarter of the workforce at the Long Beach planet, where C-17 military cargo planes are made.

Steve Jobs Takes 2nd Medical Leave In 2 Years

Apple CEO Steve Jobs is taking another medical leave of absence. Jobs said he'll continue to be involved with major strategic decisions. Day to day running of the company will be left to Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, a longtime Apple executive who's been at Jobs side during the roll-out of some of the company's most successful product launches.
