The state Senate had a lengthy and at times emotional debate on a bill to allow civil unions in Colorado. It's the second year in a row the Senate has taken up the measure. It still needs a final vote before it can move to the House, and this year the discussion showed more division among Republicans.
Colorado Democratic Representative Mark Ferrandino says he’ll reintroduce a bill to create civil unions in the state after New York legalized same sex marriages earlier this month. A similar bill this year died in a House committee on a party-line vote.
