The re-election of Rep. Cory Gardner and the victory of Rep. Jared Polis in a newly drawn district that now includes Northern Colorado promises to bring the region closer in some ways -- and further apart in others.
Republican Congressman Cory Gardner fended off his Democratic challenger Brandon Shaffer to retain his seat in the fourth congressional district. Gardner easily won the district Tuesday night maintaining a commanding lead over Shaffer.
Colorado’s vast 4th Congressional District is nearly as big as the state of North Carolina. But it now includes different territory then incumbent Republican Cory Gardner won two years ago. Noticeably absent is Larimer County – which redistricting excluded last year. But that’s not stopping Democrat Brandon Shaffer from trying to make inroads in a solidly conservative electorate.
