Lieutenant Governor Joe Garcia spent the day in Greeley gathering feedback for an upcoming plan to improve early childhood literacy. Among the topics of discussion at a University of Northern Colorado event were possible partnerships between local K-12 schools and higher education.

Today dozens of online K-12 school leaders gathered at an event sponsored by libertarian think-tank the Independence Institute. The goal was to build a policy ‘roadmap’ for the upcoming legislative session. Among the topics of discussion were school funding, access, accountability and student assessments.

A bill proposing changes in funding and regulation of online schools could be ready for introduction in a couple of weeks, but the details are still being hammered out, Senate President Brandon Shaffer says.
